Mountsfield Public School was established in 1940 in what is now referred to as London's Old South. The school owes its name to the benefactor who donated the land for the construction of the school. The stipulation was that the school must be named after the benefactor's ancestral property in England.
For more than 40 years, Mountsfield has been the home school for a Grade 7/8 Congregated gifted class, one of four of these special classes offered by the TVDSB. We also have a Grade 5/6 Congregated gifted class as well. Some Mountsfield students now travel to the school from points as far afield as Tillsonburg, Woodstock, St. Marys, Thamesford and other locations within the Thames Valley Board to be served by special programming offered at the school.
Mountsfield has a very supportive School Council and Home and School that raises significant funds each year to enhance the learning experiences of our students.
Our school also has a before and after school program run by the London School Age Program.
